Carol Laird

Carol was born in Sydney, Australia, and worked there as a High School Teacher for 18 years. She has always had a keen interest in flowers and gardening and was very impressed by botanical illustrations displayed at Rouse Hill House, an historic house in Sydney: she had a secret dream to be a botanical painter. Moving to the UK, she took the opportunity to complete a Diploma of Botanical Painting (2012), based at The Chelsea Physic Garden, and joined their Florilegium in 2013. Although now based back in the Blue Mountains, Australia, the Florilegium continues to drive her watercolour work as it blends botany, blooms, history and fellowship.
